Varus Counters

The greatest champs out of lane to counter Varus include Skarner, Wukong, and Gragas. These champs are all great at countering Varus with decent win rates over 58%. Even if these Varus counter picks are not taken opposite your position, it's not smart to take him into one of these matchups. They will likely destroy Varus.

Conversely, if the enemy team choses either Teemo or Zyra, Varus mains should strongly consider taking him, as he easily crushes these champions with win rates over 54% against each ofthem.

Recognize that Varus is extremely powerful in the early game, particularly due to his Q poke ability. He uses this to farm and poke from a long distance, which can be tricky to handle. Keeping a safe distance and deploying champions with long-range abilities can help neutralize this.

Finally, remember that Varus can be rather vulnerable when alone. He tends to stick with his support to increase survivability. Trapping him away from his support could be a great strategy to take him down.
